welcome to chapel missions romania

Map of ministry locations in Romania. In the summer of 1995 pastor Bob Caldwell of Calvary Chapel Boise led a mission team of about twenty young believers throughout Europe. On that trip, God made it clear that Calvary Chapel Boise was to make a commitment to proclaim the Gospel in Romania.

The tragic plight of the many abandoned children there was very obvious, and addressing this need was a basic tenant of the Christian faith. Secondly, there was the need to see the Gospel preached and churches started in this nation that had been left with a gaping spiritual vacuum from many years of Communism.

After much prayer and waiting for God's confirmed direction. Calvary Chapel Boise began an outreach based in the city of Bistrita. Shawn and Denise Hubbs, long time staff members at Calvary Chapel Boise, responded to the need and along with their two children, Jordan and Jesiah, moved to Romania in 1999.

Since that time, God has greatly blessed the ministry's efforts. Shawn and Denise were successful in establishing the legal framework for the ministry in Romania by forming a Non-Governmental Organization. Through this NGO they began working with the Romanian government to bring children out of the old institutional orphanages and into loving family settings.

Today, CMR directly supports an ever-growing number of Romanian orphans. Through a network of "Family Centers" and Christian foster care, CMR provides formally abandoned children with love, care, and emotional and spiritual development.

CMR is also actively involved with the proclaiming of the Gospel through evangelical outreaches, community events, musical programs, and street evangelism. In addition, CMR emphasizes the building of the Romanian body of Christ through the establishment of Bible fellowships.
